Introduction to Centering Prayer

Retreat September 19-21, 2008

At the Monastery of the Ascension, Jerome, ID Centering Prayer is a method of response to God's invitation to enter into loving intimacy and relationship.  The practice of centering prayer, as taught by Fr. Thomas Keating and the Contemplative Outreach organization, assists us in opening to the contemplative dimension of the Gospel.   The prayer prepares us to be present to God's action and presence in the innermost part of our being.  In cooperation with God's grace, Centering Prayer is a process of interior transformation and purification.   The fruits of contemplative prayer are often realized in daily life through  the gradual unfolding of the virtues of faith, hope, and love.  These virtues
open us to the love of neighbor and the capacity for genuine service.  Led by two certified Centering Prayer teachers
