Marcus Borg to Speak at St. Thomas, Ketchum

Dr. Marcus J. Borg, Hundere Chair of Religion and Culture at Oregon State University,

Dr. Marcus Borgwill be Scholar in Residence at St Thomas Episcopal Church in Sun Valley, ID from July 11-13, 2008. Dr. Borg is internationally known in both academic and church circles as a biblical and Jesus scholar. He is author of sixteen books including Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time, The God We Never Knew and The Meaning of Jesus: Two Visions, co-authored with N. T. Wright, a well known British New Testament scholar from the conservative side of the spectrum. His newest book is Jesus: Uncovering the Life, Teachings and Relevance of a Religious Revolutionary. Dr. Borg will lecture on Friday evening July 11 on the subject "Two Visions of Christianity Today". He will lead smaller group discussions on Saturday July 12 on the subject "Being Christian in the 21st Century" and preach at worship services and conduct a forum following services on Sunday July 13 on the subject "Open Hearts and Thin Places". Tickets to all events will be available beginning in the late spring.
